The 3rd Yerevan International Music Festival

Փառատոները միջազգային հարուստ և հագեցած երաժշտական կյանքի անբաժան ուղեկիցներն են: Այդ փառատոների մշտական մասնակիցներ են եղել հայ տաղանդաշատ արվեստագետները` կոմպոզիտորներ և երաժիշտ-կատարողներ:

Այսօր ազատ և անկախ Հայաստանն իր հերթին ձևավորում է սեփական «փառատոնային դաշտը», ինչը, ինքնին, միջազգային արվեստի համակարգի մեջ ինտեգրվելու գրավական- ներից է:

Հատուկ կարևորություն եմ տալիս այն փաստին, որ Երևանյան միջազգային երաժշտական փառատոնը դառնում է ավանդական:

Այսօր մեկնարկում է Երևանյան միջազգային երաժշտական 3-րդ փառատոնը։ Նախորդ երկու փառատոների հաջողությունը մեկ անգամ ևս հաստատել է նրա կազմակերպիչների որդեգրած սկզբունքների արդյունավետությունը: Փառատոներում հավասար իրավունքներով համագործակցում են իր 85-ամյակը լրացրած, բայց միշտ երիտասարդ` Հայաստանի պետական ֆիլհարմոնիկ նվագախումբը և միջազգային բեմերում բարձր անուն վաստակած մենակատարները:

Սիրով ողջունում և հաջողություն եմ մաղթում փառատոնին, նրա կազմակերպիչներին և մասնակիցներին: Հազարավոր արվեստասերներին սպասվում են գեղեցիկի հետ հանդիպման երջանիկ պահեր:

Ընթացիկ աշունը խոստանում է մայրաքաղաքի արվեստասեր հանրությանը դիմա- վորել մշակութային աննախադեպ աշխուժությամբ ու բազմազանությամբ, որտեղ իր ուրույն տեղն ու դերն ունի Երևանյան 3-րդ միջազգային փառատոնը։

Փառատոնի հագեցած ծրագիրը կասկած չի թողնում, որ սեպտեմբեր-հոկտեմբեր ամիսներին ունենալու ենք դասական երաժշտության մի կատարյալ շքերթ, որի մասնակիցներն են երաժշտական հարուստ ավանդույթներ ունեցող մի շարք երկրների առաջատար երաժիշտներ։

Աշխարհին առաջնակարգ երաժիշտների մի ամբողջ աստղաբույլ տված մեր մայրաքաղաքը վաղուց նկատելի է երաժշտարվեստի քարտեզի վրա, և ՀՀ Նախագահի տիկնոջ հովանու ներքո անցկացվող այս փառատոնը իր ամենամյա շարունակության մեջ առավել կամրապնդի ու կզարգացնի Երևանի բարի համբավը: Փառատոնի կազմակերպիչները կարողացել են իրենց շուրջը համախմբել ոլորտի կարող ուժերին և մի շարք հովանավորների, ինչը վստահություն է ներշնչում, որ ամեն տարի այս օրերին Երևանյան միջազգային երաժշտական փառատոնի շնորհիվ մենք ունենալու ենք բարձր արվեստին հաղորդակցվելու բազում անմոռանալի պահեր։

Ողջունում եմ փառատոնի մասնակիցներին, մաղթում բարձր տրամադրություն։

Festivals are the inherent partners of the rich and abundant international musical life. The talented Armenian artists, composers and soloists, have always been the permanent participants of such festivals. Today, the free and independent Armenia creates its own "festival field", the advantage of which is assuredly the integration into International Art system. The fact that Yerevan International Music Festival becomes traditional is of peculiar importance.

Today starts the 3rd Yerevan International Music festival. The success of previous two festivals has proved once again the productiveness of principles adopted by its organizers. During the past festivals, on equal rights have collaborated, the 85 year old, but always young, Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and many internationally acclaimed celebrities.

I cordially greet and wish success to the festival, its organizers and participants. Many happy moments of encounter with beautiful music are awaiting thousands of art lovers.

The current autumn promises to meet the art loving community of our city with rich and diverse cultural events. Among these events is the 3rd Yerevan International Music Festival with its unique place and role in the city's musical life.

The versatile concert programs of the festival do not leave a doubt that during the September- October months we are going to enjoy a real parade of the classical music performances, with leading musicians from a number of countries with rich musical traditions.

Yerevan, which has given many famous musicians to the world, for a long time has been noticeable on the map of the classical music world. This festival, being held under the high patronage of the spouse of the President of RA, in its annual continuity will strengthen and develop the good repute of Yerevan.

The Festival organizers have succeeded to gather around professionals of this sphere and a number of sponsors and supports. This makes us hope that every year, thanks to the Yerevan International Music Festival, we will have an opportunity to enjoy many unforgettable musical moments.

Ալեքսանդր ՉԱՈՒՇՅԱՆ Էդուարդ ԹՈՓՉՅԱՆ

Երևանի համերգասրահներն ինչպես անցյալ տասնամյակներին, այնպես էլ վերջին տարի- ներին և հյուրընկալել են համաշխարհային հռչակ ունեցող երաժիշտների, որոնք հանդես են եկել մենահամերգներով և նվագախմբերի հետ՝ անմոռանալի պահեր պարգևելով ունկնդիրներին։

ՀՀ Նախագահի տիկնոջ՝ Ռիտա Սարգսյանի բարձր հովանավորությամբ անցկացվող Երևանյան 3-րդ միջազգային երաժշտական փառատոնն առանձնահատուկ է այն առումով, որ նրա շրջանակներում համերգներ կունե- նան և՛ վաղուց կայացած երևելի կատարող- ներ, և՛ խոստումնալից կամ արդեն իսկ համաշ- խարհային համերգասրահներում ճանաչում գտնող երիտասարդներ։

Կանցկացվեն նաև վարպետության դասըն- թացներ։

Սիրով ողջունում ենք փառատոնի բոլոր մասնակիցներին և հույս հայտնում, որ սա հեր- թական կարևոր քայլը կլինի Հայաստանի՝ հա- մաշխարհային կատարողական արվեստի բնագավառում ընդգրկվելու և թեկուզ իր համեստ, բայց կայուն տեղը հաստատելու ուղղությամբ։

Like in the past decades, during the last years also, the Yerevan concert halls have welcomed many world famous musicians, who appeared with symphony orchestras and in recitals, presenting unforgettable musical experiences to the audience.

The 3rd Yerevan International Music Festival is being organized under the high patronage of spouse of the President of Armenia, Mrs. Rita Sargsyan. This event is unique in that within its frames, along with the world renowned celebrities, will appear already accomplished young musicians, who regularly perform at important venues.

Within the frames of the festival will be given also the masterclasses.

We cordially greet all participants of thefestival, and hope that the festival will become another important step for Armenia to be integrated in the world performing arts field, by taking its, although modest, but firm place there.

We express our deep gratitude and apprecia- tion to the spouse of the President of RA, Mrs. Rita Sargsyan, the Ministry of Culture of RA and to all our sponsors for their invaluable support.

Վաստակավոր կոլեկտիվ

Հայաստանի պետական ֆիլհարմոնիկ նվագախումբ Սկզբնավորվել է 1925-ին որպես Երևանի կոնսերվատորիայի սիմֆոնիկ նվագախումբ։ Տարբեր տարիների նվագախումբը գլխավորել են Ա.Ադամյանը, Ա.Սպենդիարյանը,Ս.Չա- րեքյանը, Գ.Բուդաղյանը, Կ.Սարաջյանը, Մ.Մալունցյանը, Օ.Դուրյանը, Մ.Տերյանը, Ռ.Վարդանյանը, Ա.Քաթանյանը, Դ․Խանջյանը, ՎԳերգիևը, ՎՊապյանը, Մ.Ավետիսյանը և ԼՃգնավորյանը։ 2000 թվականի հոկտեմբերից ՀՊՖՆ-ի գեղարվեստական ղեկավարը և գլխավոր դիրիժորն է Էդուարդ Թոփչյանը: Նվագախումբը դարձել է արևմտաեվրոպա- կան, ռուսական և հայ երաժշտության սիմֆոնիկ գործերի տարածողը: Այս կոլեկտիվի հետ ելույթ են ունեցել Դավիթ Օյստրախը, Սվյատոսլավ Ռիխտերը, Մստիսլավ Ռոստրո- պովիչը, Ռենատո Բրուզոնը, Սթիվեն Իսերլիսը,Դավիդ Գերինգասը, Բերնդ Գլեմզերը, Ֆրանսուա-Ժոել Տիոլիեն և այլ հյուրեկ արտիստներ, ինչպես և Հայաստանի առաջատար մենակատարներ և սկսնակ խոստումնալից երաժիշտներ: Նվագախմբի ելույթները ղե- կավարել են Ալեքսանդր Մելիք-Փաշայանը,Վիլլի Ֆեռերոն, Ֆրանց Կոնվիչնին,Կուրտ Մազուրը և այլ հայտնի դիրիժորներ։ Հեղինակային համերգներով հանդես են եկել Ա.Խա- չատրյանը, Դ.Կաբալևսկին և այլ կոմպոզիտորներ: Սկսած 1989-ից նվագախումբը հա- մերգներով հանդես է եկել ԱՄՆ-ում,Կանադայում, Ավստրիայում, Գերմանիայում, Ֆրա- նսիայում,Շվեյցարիայում, Լյուքսեմբուրգում, Լիբանանում, Իսպանիայում,Պորտուգալի- այում, Անգլիայում, Հունաստանում, Իրանում,Կիպրոսում, Թուրքիայում,ԱՄԷ-ում և այլ երկրներում: Թողարկվել են նվագախմբի կատարումով ավելի քան 30 ձայներիզներ: 2000/01թթ. համերգաշրջանում ՀՊՖՆ-ն Թոփչյանի ղեկավարությամբ հաջողությամբ հանդես է եկել Մոսկվայում և Բեռլինում:2003-ի հունվարին ՀՊՖՆ-ն մասնակցել է «Արամ Խաչատրյանի երաժշտության միջազգային տարվա» բացմանը Մոսկվայում։ 2006-2007թթ. համերգաշրջանում կայացան ՀՊՖՆ-ի հյուրախաղերը Չեխիայում և Ֆրանսիայում, իսկ 2009-ին՝ Ճապոնիայում։

Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra

The Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1925 as a symphony orchestra of the Yerevan Conservatory. Over the years, conductors _A.Adamian,A.Spendiarian, S.Charekian, G.Budaghian, K.Saradjian, M.Maluntsian, O.Durian, M.Terian, R.Vardanian, A.Katanian, D.Khandjian, V.Gergiev, V.Papian, M.Avetissian and LTjeknavorian_directed_the_orchestra. In October 2000 Eduard Topchjan was appointed the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the APO. Since its foundation, the orchestra has performed mostof the classical repertoire. Many of the worlds leading artists such as D. Oistrach, S. Richter, M. Rostropovich, R.Bruson, S.Isserlis, D.Geringas, B.Glemser, F-J. Thiollier and others, aswellppeared with this orchestra. A. Melik- Pashayev,V. Ferrero,F.Konvichny, K. Masur and several other composers have conducted the orchestra. A. Khachaturian, D. Kabalevsky and other composers have conducted their works with the accompaniment of the Armenian Philharmonic. Since 1989 the APO has toured extensively throughout the USA, Canada,Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Lebanon, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Greece, Iran, Cyprus, Turkey, UAE and other countries. More than 30 CDs have been released with the orchestras recordings. During 2000-2001 season the APO directed by E. Topchjan had successful performances in Moscow and Berlin. In 2006-2007 concert season the APO toured the Czech Republic and France and in 2009 toured Japan.

Էդուարդ Թոփչյան, դիրիժոր (Հայաստան) Որպես ջութակահար՝ ավարտել է Երևանի կոնսերվատո- րիան, որտեղ նաև դիրիժորության դասեր է առել Օհան Դուրյանից: Նրա իբրև երաժշտի կայացման ճանապար- հին մեծ էր Սըր Ջորջ Շոլթիի, Կլաուդիո Աբբադոյի և Նելլո Սանտիի արժեքավոր խորհուրդների դերը: Դիրիժորությամբ սկսեց զբաղվել 1991-ից, երբ կոնսեր- վատորիայի իր ընկերներից ստեղծեց «Սերենադ» կամե- րային նվագախումբը։ Շուտով նվագախումբն անուն վաս- տակեց Հայաստանում և Եվրոպայում Տեղի ունեցան հյուրախաղեր, ձայնագրություններ: «Սերենադը» դար- ձավ միջազգային մրցույթի դափնեկիր։ 2000-ից Թոփչյանը նշանակվել է Հայաստանի պետական ֆիլհարմոնիկ նվա- գախմբի գեղարվեստական ղեկավար և գլխավոր դիրիժոր: Նրա գլխավորած նվագախմբի ելույթները Հայաստանում և արտասահմանում արժանացան մամուլի և հանդիսատեսի բարձր գնահատանքին:Գերմանիայի Bad Fussing փառատոն (2000), ելույթներ Մոսկվայում (2001, 2003), «Մորավյան աշուն» փառատոն (Չեխիա, 2006), որին անմիջականորեն հաջորդեցին այցը Նյուրնբերգ (Գերմանիա), հյուրախաղեր Նիցա, Վալանս, Մարսել, Լիոն, Սենթ Էթիեն և այլ քաղաքներում («Ֆրանսիայում Հայաստանի տարվա» շրջանակներում, 2007)՝ ահա մի քանիսը միայն ՀՊՖՆ-ի արտասահմանյան ուղևորություններից։ Սիմֆոնիկ և կամերային ծրագրերի կողքին Թոփչյանը մեծ նշանակություն է տալիս օպերաների կատարումներին`ՀՊՖՆ-ի և Հայաստանի, ինչպես և արտասահմանյան լավագույն երգիչների ուժերով: Այդպիսի համերգային բեմակա- նացումներից են «Աիդա», «Սևիլյան սափրիչը», «Թիկնոցը», «Մադամ Բաթերֆլայ», «Սիմոն Բոկանեգրա», «Ռիգոլետո», «Պայացներ», «Օթելլո» օպերաները: Էդուարդ Թոփչյանի ղեկավարությամբ մեծ հաջողությամբ ելույթ են ունեցել մեծանուն արտիստներ Սթիվեն Իսերլիսը, Դավիդ Գերինգասը, Ռենատո Բրուզոնը և այլք: Իբրև հրավիրյալ դիրիժոր Թոփչյանը հանդես է եկել Եվրոպայի և ԱՄՆ-ի սիմֆոնիկ, օպերային և ռադիո նվագախմբերի հետ: 2007-ից Էդուարդ Թոփչյանը Երևանի միջազգային երաժշտական ամենամյա փառատոնի նախաձեռնողը և գեղարվեստական ղեկավարն է (թավջութակահար Ալեքսանդր Չաուշյանի հետ համատեղ)։

Eduard Topchjan, conductor (Armenia)

Eduard Topchjan studied violin at the Yerevan Conservatory and went on to study conducting with Ohan Durian. Further on he got valuable consultations from Sir George Solti, Claudio Abbado and Nello Santi. Topchjan started conducting in 1991,when with a group of his friends from the Yerevan conservatory he created the Serenade Chamber Orchestra. The Serenade at once earned a fine reputation in Armenia and Europe. The orchestra toured extensively, made recordings and became the prize winner of International competition. Eduard Topchjan made his debut with the APO in 2000, when an orchestra comprised of the Serenade Chamber Orchestra musicians and a group of leading APO musicians had a successful appearance at Bad Fussing Festival, Germany. The same year he was appointed the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the APO and started successful appearances with the APO in Yerevan, Moscow (2001,2003), at "Moravian Autumn" festival (Czech Republic, 2006), Nurnberg (Germany, 2006), tours throughout France within the framework of "The Year of Armenia in France" (Nice, Valance, Marseille, Lyon, Saint Etienne and other cities, 2007). These are a few of the APO tours during his conductorship. Along with the symphonic and chamber works Topchjan pays much attention to operatic repertoire. With the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the renowned local and guest artists he has performed the operas "Aida", "The Barber of Seville", "ll Tabarro", "Madama Butterfly", "Simone Boccanegra", "Rigoletto", "| Pagliacci" and "Otello". A number of celebrated artists have appeared under the baton of Eduard Topchjan, such as Steven Isserlis, David Geringas, Renato Bruson, Kim Kashkashian, Alexei Lyubimov, Bernd Glemser, Tibor Varga, Francois-Joel Thiollier, Bernard Ringeissen, Mischa Maisky, Boris Berezovsky, Sergey Khachatryan, Isabel Bayrakdarian, Sergei Babayan, Julia Fischer to name a few. As a guest conductor he has appeared with many important symphony, chamber and radio orchestras in Europe and USA. Since 2007, Eduard Topchjan is the initiator and Artistic Director (together with cellist Alexander Chaushian) of the annual Yerevan International Music Festival, which aims to introduce the best Armenian and internationally known musicians to the audience.

Ծնվել է Նեապոլում: Կրթությունը ստացել Նեապոլի և Բոլոնի- այի կոնսերվատորիաներում: Ավարտել է Բոլոնիայի համալ- սարանի արվեստի ֆակուլտետը: Դիրիժորության ասպարե- զում նրա դասատուներն էին Մ.Բերնարտը, Վ.Դելմանը և Ջ.Ջելմետին։ Որպես հրավիրյալ դիրիժոր ղեկավարել է Բոլցանոյի, Տոսկանայի, Պարմայի, Բոլոնիայի, Աբրուցայի, Տրեվիզոյի, Միլանի, Բարիի, Ակվիլայի, Լեչեի, Սան Ռեմոյի, Բուդապեշտի, Մոսկվայի, Սանկտ Պետերբուրգի և այլ քաղաքների սիմֆոնիկ և կամերային նվագախմբերը և օպերային ներկայացումները: 2007-ին Պուչինիի 150-ամյակի առթիվ Լուկկայում իրականացրել է նրա հայտնի տրիպտիխը։ Պավարոտիի մահվան առաջին տարելիցին Սիսիլլոն Մոդենայում ղեկավարել է Վերդիի Ռեքվիեմը, իսկ 2008-ին՝ Մայամիում Florida Grand Opera-ի «Տրավիատայի» բեմադրությունը: Սիսիլլոն ժամանակակից երաժշտու- թյան ջատագով է: Իրականացրել է պրեմիերաներ Festival delle Nazioni di Città di Castello, Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte (Մոնտեպուլչանո), Nuove Forme Sonore (Հռոմ), Estate Chigiana (Սիենա), Բոլոնիայի Angelica և այլ հեղինակավոր փառատոներում։ Համագործակցել է Օրնետ Քոլմանի, Ուրի Քեյնի, Մայք Պեթընի, Իվինգ Քենգի և երաժշտության տարբեր ժանրեր ներկայացնող այլ երաժիշտների հետ: Ձայնագրություններ է կատարել Fonit Cetra, Naxos, I'Hermitage և այլ հայտնի ֆիրմաներում RAI ընկերությունը ձայնագրել է նրա բազմաթիվ համերգները: Ալդո Սիսիլլոն կատարել է նաև թատերական փառատոների, ցուցահանդեսների և այլ միջոցառումների երաժշտական ձևավորումը (Վենետիկ, Նանսի, Փարիզ, Ֆլորենցիա և այլ քաղաքներ)։ 1984-ին ստեղծել է Emilia Romagna տարածքի երիտասարդական սիմֆոնիկ նվագախումբը, որի հետ հյուրախաղերի է մեկնել՝ Իտալիայում և արտերկրում։ 1995-2000-ին եղել է Բոլոնիայի Teatro Comunale-ի կազմակերպիչ ղեկավարը։ Ներկայումս Մոդենայի Fondazione Teatro Comunale-ի և Festival delle Nazioni di Città di Castello-ի գեղարվեստական ղեկավարն է: Ալդո Սիսիլլոն դասավանդում է Պարմայի «Առիգո Բոյտո» կոնսերվատորիայում:

Aldo Sisillo

Aldo Sisillo was born in Naples. He studied music at the Conservatories of Naples and Bologna. He also graduated in music from the University of Bologna's Music and Performing Arts Department (Discipline delle Arti, della Musica e dello Spettacolo). He studied orchestra conducting with Maestro Massimo de Bernart, Maestro Vladimir Delman and Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti. Among his many commitments, he received invitations from institutions and symphonic orchestras as guest conductor as Orchestra Haydn (Bolzano), Orchestra Alessandro Scarlatti (RAI, state broadcasting authority, Naples), the Arturo Toscanini dell'Emilia Romagna orchestra, the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Parma, the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari, the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese (I'Aquila), the Orchestra Filarmonia (Treviso), the Orchestra Angelicum (Milano), the Orchestra Sinfonica di Lecce, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, Orchestra Sinfonica del Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Liszt Academy (Budapest), the National Theatre in Split (Croatia), the San Petersburg Radio Simphony Orchestra, the Moscow Radio&TV Symphony Orchestra and the Festival di Ravello. On first anniversary of Luciano Pavarotti's death, he conducted in Modena Verdi Requiem. In November 2008 he conducted at Florida Grand Opera in Miami (USA) a new Traviata staging. He displays a keen interest in contemporary music. He has conducted at many world premiere events for the Festival delle Nazioni di CittЛ di Castello, the Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano, Nuove Forme Sonore in Rome, the Estate Chigiana summer events calendar in Siena, and the Festival Angelica in Bologna. The State broadcasting authority, RAI, has also recorded many of his concerts. He also composed musical accompaniments for theatrical events presented at the Venice Biennale, the World Festival (Nancy), the Festival di Santarcangelo, the Rassegna dei Teatri Stabili (Florence), and the Val-de-Marne Festival (Paris). In 1984 he founded the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Emilia Romagna Region (Orchestra Sinfonica Giovanile dell'Emilia Romagna); as his head conductor he has toured both in Italy and abroad. From 1995 to 2000 he held the post of Segretario Artistico (Artistic Secretary) at the Teatro Comunale (Bologna). He is currently Direttore Artistico (Artistic Director) for the Fondazione Teatro Comunale (Modena) and the Festival delle Nazioni di Città di Castello. He teaches at the Conservatorio Arrigo Boito in Parma.

Lavard Skou-Larsen conductor (Austria)

Lavard Skou-Larsen was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil as the son of the violinist Perly and the conductor Gunnar Skou-Larsen. He first received violin lessons at the age of four from his father Gunnar, and had extra tuition from Professor Ernst Moravec in Vienna. He was admitted to the Academy of Music and Performing Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg aged fourteen to study with Professor Dr. Helmut Zehetmair, and gained a performance diploma with distinction. He later completed a postgraduate diploma under Sandor Végh. Lavard Skou-Larsen has won prizes both as soloist and as chamber musician, including the "Concertino Prague and the "Sergio Lorenzi" in Triest. He was a member of the Camerata Academica under Sandor Végh from 1983 to 1986. He has been teaching violin at the Mozarteum/Salzburg since 1991, the same year he founded the Salzburg Chamber Soloists. From 1996 to 2002 he was appointed artistic director of the European Union Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist he appeared in such important concert halls as the Konzerthaus, Vienna; Grosser Saal des Mozarteums, Salzburg; Champs Elysée, Paris; Beethovenhalle, Bonn; Philharmonie, Köln; Alte Oper, Frankfurt; Tonhalle, Zurich; Victoria Hall, Geneva; Elizabethzaal, Anvers; Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires; Concert Hall, Birmingham; Opera, Kairo and others.

In recent seasons, Kim Kashkashian has appeared as soloist with the major orchestras in New York, Berlin, Vienna, London, Milan, Munich and Tokyo including performances with Ricardo Chailly, Christoph Eschenbach and Riccardo Muti. She has performed recitals at the Metropolitan Museum and the 92nd Street "Y" in New York City, in Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Cleveland and Los Angeles. In her quest for new directions and forms, she has developed working relationships with such composers as Gubaidulina, Penderecki, Kancheli, Kuring, Mansurian, Pärt ,Berio and Eolvos Current charnber music partnerships include duos with pianist Robert Levin and percussionist Robyn Schulkowsky. Ms. Kashkashian has performed with the Tokyo, Guarneri, and Galimir Quartets and toured with a unique quartet which included violinists Gidon Kremer and Daniel Phillips and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Ms Kashkashian's discography on the ECM label encompasses her wide range of interests, from the concertos of Bartok, Kurtag, Eotvos,Kancheli, Berio,Penderecki, and Mansurian to the complete sonatas of Hindemith, Brahms, Shostakowitch and Bach viola da gamba,as well as new works for viola and percussion, and transcriptions of ancient Armenian song. Her extensive teaching activities have included professorships at the University of Indiana and in Freiburg and Berlin, Germany. In September 2000, she began teaching viola and chamber music at the New England Conservatory in Boston. Highlights of the 2008-09 season include recitals in Rome, Paris, Berlin, New York and Wash.DC. Concerto appearances include Bartok with Cleveland Orchestra and at the Salzburg Festival, the world premiere in Boston of the Mansurian concerto and the North American premiere of the Olivero concerto. Ms. Kashkashian was trained at the Peabody Conservatory,where she studied with Walter Trampler and Karen Tuttle.

Wolfgang Meyer, clarinet (Germany)

Wolfgang Meyer was born in Crailsheim (Germany). He has studied with Otto Hermann in Stuttgart and Hans Deinzer in Hannover. Since 1989, Mr.Meyer is a Professor at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, from 2001-2007 the Rector of this institution. As solo clarinetist he is a devoted performer of works by contemporary composers such as Tiberiu Olah, Jean Francaix, Hubert Stuppner, Peter Eötvös und Edison Denissow. A number of CDs have been released with the recordings of Wolf- gang Meyer. Since 2004, he is regularly collaborating with his sister Sabine as well as conductor Nicholaus Harnoncourt. In 2004, he collaborated with Claudio Abbado and the Lucerne Festival Orc- hestra. Mr.Meyer appears worldwide both as a chamber musician and soloist with the orchestras.

Anahit Chaushian, piano (UIK)

Anahit was born into the fourth generation in a family of professional musicians and started musical training from the age of six. After completing her studies in Armenia she had given numerous recitals there; many of her early performances included compositions by contemporary Armenian composers. Anahit graduated from the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles under Evgeni Mogilevski and from Royal Academy of Music (Dip RAM) in London under Pascal Nemirovski. She is a recipient of the Diploma D'Onore at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. Anahit is a laureate of the International Emmanuel Durlet Paino Competition in Antwerp, Belgium. Her studies were complemented by master classes from the likes of Paul Bedure-Skoda, Michele Campanella, Lezar Barman, Lev Naumov and Stephen Hough. In London she held recitals and chamber music performances at the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and the St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Anahit has also performed at the Santori Hall in Tokio, the Grande Salle du Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and the Gavot Hall in Paris. Anahit has made numerous concert appearances with the London Soloists Orchestra and with the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a member of the Orpheus & Bacchus Ensemble, France, the Arnaranth trio, UK and the Fugata Quintet, UK.

François-Frédéric Guy has a growing reputation for interpretations of authority, intensity and insight. He is especially renowned for his performances of large-scale works in the Austro-German tradition BBC Radio 3's CD Review selected his Naïve recording of Beethoven's epic Hammerklavier Sonata as the finest in the catalogue. He is currently embarked on a project to perform the complete Beethoven Sonatas and Piano Concertos at major venues around the world over several years. Guy has performed worldwide with orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Hallé, Helsinki Philharmonic, Japan Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de Lyon and San Francisco Symphony. In the summer of 2006 he made his BBC Proms debut at the Royal Albert Hall performing the Ravel Piano Concerto with Esa-Pekka Salonen and the Philharmonia. Other outstanding conductors with whom he has worked include Bernard Haitink, Daniel Harding, Neeme Järvi, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Michael Tilson Thomas. In recital, he has performed in cities including London, Milan, Munich, Paris, Vienna and Washington, and at festivals including La Roque d'Anthéron, City of London, Cheltenham and Yokohama. After his debut recital in the Berlin Philharmonie, the Berliner Morgenpost wrote: 'Guy is a pianist of astonishing expressiveness, with immaculate pianistic technique... a man of the present even when he plays Schubert...' Among François-Frédéric Guy's most notable recordings are those of Prokofiev's Sonatas 6 and 8 (Naive) and Brahms Sonatas 2 and 3 (Meridian). He has also recorded Brahms Piano Concerto No 2 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Paavo Berglund (Naïve). His chamber music recordings include the Beethoven and Brahms Cello Sonatas with Anne Gastinel and Brahms Clarinet Sonatas with Romain Guyot. As part of his ongoing Beethoven project, he is recording the complete Piano Concertos with Philippe Jordan and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. The first CD of the series (Concertos 1 & 5) was recently released and the BBC Music Magazine commented: 'The performance... confirms Guy as one of the foremost pianists of his generation'. François-Frédéric Guy studied with Dominique Merlet and Christian Ivaldi at the Paris Conservatoire, where he graduated with the Premier Prix. He is a keen reader of the works of Dostoyevsky and of biographies and memoirs of musicians. In addition to his admiration of Beethoven-whom he describes as "the Alpha and Omega of music"-he has special affinities with the music of Bartók, Brahms, Liszt and Prokofiev and a strong commitment to contemporary music with close links to composers such as Ivan Fedele, Marc Monnet, Gerard Pesson and Hugues Dufourt, who recently dedicated a significant new piano piece Erlkönig to him.

Ashley Wass piano (UK)

Ashley Wass studied at Chethams Music School and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music to study with Christopher Elton and Hamish Milne. He has spent three summers as a participant at the Marlboro Music Festival, playing chamber music with musicians such as Mitsuko Uchida, Richard Goode and members of the Guarneri Quartet and Beaux Arts Trio. Wass has given recitals at most of the major UK concert halls including the Wigmore Hall, Symphony Hall, the Purcell Room, LSO St. Lukes, Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Sage, Bridgewater Hall, St. Davids Hall, and at the festivals of Bath, Harrogate, Cheltenham, Brighton and the City of London. His has appeared with many famous orchestras such as the Philharmonia, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and others. Wass has also worked with Sir Simon Rattle and the CBSO, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the London Mozart Players, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic. Future engagements include concerts with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Sinfonia Viva, the Portuguese Symphony and the London Mozart Players, recitals in Amsterdam, Cyprus, Lisbon, Istanbul, Chicago, Mexico City, St. Johns Smith Square, Wigmore Hall, the Sage, St. David's Hall, Bridgewater Hall and LSO St. Luke's. Ashley is also much in demand as a chamber musician. He toured the USA and Europe with violinist Sarah Chang, appearing at venues such as Philadelphias Kimmel Center, La Jolla, Dublin's National Concert Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York. He is also the Artistic Director of the Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival. Ashley Wass' recordings on EMI and Naxos labels have received the highest critical acclaim.

Daishin Kashimoto, violin (Japan)

First prize winner of such renowned competitions as the 6th Menuhin International Junior Violin Competition in England in 1993, the International Competition for Violinists in Cologne in 1994 and in 1996, both the International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition in Vienna and the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud International Competition for Piano and Violin in Paris. A Japanese national born in London in 1979, Daishin Kashimoto has already been recognized internationally by performing under renowned Maestros such as Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Yuri Temirkanov, Vladimir Fedoseev, Evgeny Svetlanov, Michel Plasson, Semyon Bychkov, Mariss Jansons, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Myung-Whun Chung, and others. Began studying violin in Tokyo at the age of three under Kumiko Eto. He moved to New York in 1985, and in the following year, he was accepted by the pre-college division of The Juilliard School as its youngest student where he studied under Naoko Tanaka. Since then he has given recitals and solo appearances in New York, Vienna, London, Moscow, Rome, Paris, Tokyo and many major cities in Germany.He moved to Lubeck, Germany in 1990 to accept an invitation to study under Prof. Zakhar Bron at the Lubeck Musikhochshule. Later, he continued his studies under Prof. Rainer Kussmaul at Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg. Daishin is also active in the field of chamber music, and he has performed number of concerts with noted musicians such as Itamar Golan, Yuri Bashmet, Gidon Kremer, Mischa Maisky, Gerard Caussee and others. Since 2000, he has been invited to perform chamber music with Myung-When Chung both in Japan and Korea. Following a success in 2004, he has been invited every summer to a chamber music festival in Salon de Province (France). Starting from 2005, Daishin has appeared in la Folle Journee festival in both Nantes (France) and in Tokyo. He made a recital debut at Louvre in Paris in October, 2006. Daishin has signed an international contract with Sony Classical NY and his debut CD has been released in various countries. In March 1998, Daishin received the Education Minister's Incentive Award for Young Artists from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs. From 2009, Daishin Kashimoto is the concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Radovan Vlatkovic, horn (Austria)

One of the leading instrumentalists of his generation, Radovan Vlatkovic has travelled the globe performing extensively as soloist and popularising the horn as recording artist and teacher. Born in Zagreb in 1962, he completed his studies with Professor Prerad Detièek at the Zagreb Academy of Music and Professor Michael Höltzel at the Music Academy in Detmold, Germany. Radovan Vlatkovic is the recipient of many first prizes in national and international competitions, including the Premio Ancona in 1979 and the ARD Competition in Munich in 1983 – the first to be awarded to a horn player for fourteen years. This led to numerous invitations to music festivals throughout Europe including Salzburg, Vienna, Edinburgh and Dubrovnik to name but a few, the Americas, Australia, Israel, Korea as well as regular appearances in Japan.

From 1982 until 1990 he served as Principal Horn with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin (now Deutsches Symphonie Orchester) under Maestros Riccardo Chailly and Vladimir Ashkenazy. From 1992 to 1998, he held the post of Horn Professor at the Stuttgart Musikhochschule. In 1998, he became Horn Professor at the renowned Mozarteum in Salzburg. Since 2000, he holds the Horn Chair "Canon" at the "Queen Sofia" School in Madrid.

Radovan Vlatkovic has appeared as soloist with many distinguished symphony and chamber orchestras including the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra, Stuttgart Radio Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester, Munich Chamber Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, Mozarteum Orchestra, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Santa Cecilia Orchestra Rome, RAI Orchestra Torino, Rotterdam Philharmonie, the orchestras of Berne, Basel and Zürich, the Lyon and Strasbourg Orchestras, NHK Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan and Yomiuri Orchestra, Adelaide and Melbourne Orchestras. His numerous recordings include Mozart and Strauss Concertos with the English Chamber Orchestra and Jeffrey Tate, works by Saint-Saens with the Ensemble Orchestral de Paris and Jean-Jacques Kantorow, the Britten Serenade for tenor, horn and strings with Neil Jenkins and the Oriol Ensemble in Berlin, Concertos for two horns by Leopold Mozart and Fasch with Herrmann Baumann and Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields and lona Brown. Alexander Chaushian, cello (UK)

Now regarded as one of the finest cellists of the younger generation, Alexander Chaushian has performed extensively throughout the world. As a soloist with orchestra his appearances include the Vienna Chamber Orchestra at Vienna's Konzerthaus and at the Bruchnerhaus in Linz, as well as with the London Mozart Players and the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Royal National Orchestra of Belgium, Les Solistes Européens de Luxembourg in a gala concert conducted by Yehudi Menuhin, the Boston Pops Orchestra at Boston Symphony Hall, and the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Alexander has given recitals at the Harrogate Festival in England, the Kuhmo International Festival in Finland, La Jolla Festival in the USA, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and in Montpellier as recipient of the Beracasa Foundation Prize of the Radio-France and in Montpellier Festival. Currently he is the Artistic Director of the International Pharos Chamber Music Festival in Cyprus and the Yerevan Music Festival in Armenia.

Born into a family of musicians, Alexander Chaushian started to play the cello at the age of seven. After initial studies with his grandfather, Alexander Chaushian Sr, and Zareh Sargsian, he studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Melissa Phelps and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London as a student of Oleg Kogan. He then pursued advanced studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with the late Boris Pergamenschikow and later with David Geringas, graduating with distinction in 2005.

Alexander Chaushian won First Prize in the Premio Mozart Competition in Verona, Italy, and First Prize in the International Music Competition in Holland. He received the Guilhermina Suggia Gift in London - a grant awarded to outstanding string players - on three occasions. He was awarded the Orchestra of New England Soloist Prize, as well as the first Summis Auspiciis Prize of Young Concert Artists in New York. Alexander Chaushian was awarded 3rd prize, and he won the special prize given by the Munich Chamber Orchestra at the Internationaler Musikwettbewerb der ARD in Germany in September 2005. Alexander Chaushian has collaborated with many distinguished musicians such as Levon Chilingirian, Dmitri Sitkovetsky, and Phillippe Cassard, Yuri Bashmet, Diemut Poppen and Julia Fischer. Alexander's regular chamber music partners include Ashley Wass and Yevgeny Sudbin. His recent projects include numerous concerts and recordings. He has performed highly acclaimed concerts at Wigmore Hall the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Royal Festival Hall as soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Barbican with The Academy of St Martin's in the Field and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sala Verdi, Milan with the Padova Chamber Orchestra, as well making his highly successful debut at the Suntory Hall, Japan. Alexander Chaushian has recorded Shostakovich's Cello Sonata for Performance Channel television, and made a recording of the Wim Zwaag's Cello Concerto with the Nürnberger Symphoniker. Alexander's solo debut recording for the BIS label of Weinberg's Sonatas in which he is partnered by Yevgeny Sudbin, was recently released to much acclaim. Other recordings for BIS of Rachmaninov and Shostakovich, as well as a concerto project with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, are now planned. His future recital engagements include appearances_in_the_Wigmore_Hall_Series_in London. Since 2008, Alexander Chaushian is a professor at The Royal College of Music.

Karine Babajanyan, soprano (Germany)

Karine Babajanyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia. She studied singing at the State Conservatory Yerevan with Prof. Tatevik Sazandaryan, furthering her studies in Rome with Mirella Parutto. In 1996,she won the A.Isahakian Song Contest, the Austro-German Music Contest and in 1998 - "Competizione Dell Opera" in Hamburg. Since 1999, the soprano has been living in Germany. She has sung with the festivals of Bregenz, Baden-Baden, Ruhr Trienale, Schleswig -Holstein, Reingau, Praga Autumn, Miskolc International Festival and the NHK Symphony Orchestra in concerts broadcast live from Suntory Hall in Tokio. Her opera house appearances include Mexico City Opera, Tokyo New National Opera, Basel and Bern in Switzerland, Graz in Austria, Berlin, Hamburg, Essen, Hannover, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Polina Leschenko, piano (Belgium)

Polina Leschenko was born in 1981 in St Petersburg into a family of musicians and began playing the piano under her father's guidance at the age of six. She made her solo debut at the age of eight with the Leningrad Symphony Orchestra in St Petersburg. She studied with Sergei Leschenko, Vitali Margulis, Pavel Gililov, Alexandre Rabinovitch-Barakovsky and Christopher Elton. At the age of 16 she received her Higher Diploma with the greatest distinction from the Royal Conservatory in Brussels.

Polina Leschenko has worked with orchestras such as the Hallé, London Mozart Players, Scottish Chamber, Bournemouth Symphony, Russian National, Orquesta de Euskadi and Australian Chamber Orchestras. In January 2008, she took part in the Hallé's celebration concert to mark their 150th birthday, performing Weber's Konzertstuck (part of the program for the orchestra's very first concert): David Fanning wrote in the Telegraph, 'Equally breathtaking... was the young Russian pianist Polina Leschenko, who produced a dazzling firework display in the Weber Konzertstock'. She has given major recitals in Vienna, Minnesota, Atlanta and New York. In the 2006/2007 season, Leschenko was the Palais des Beaux Arts' candidate for the ECHO Rising Stars series. Together with the cellist Christian Poltéra, she appeared throughout Europe, including Vienna, Salzburg, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and Brussels, as well as at Carnegie Hall, New York. Leschenko's 2008/2009 season has included concerts in Milan, Utrecht, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and Vienna's Konzerthaus. She has toured South America with the Halln Orchestra and Sir Mark Elder, and has performed Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No1 with Heinrich Schiff and the Bruckner Orchester Linz, and with the Hallé Orchestra. Leschenko has also performed in a series of chamber music concerts in the UK and Poland with the Britten Sinfonia, including a Wigmore Hall lunchtime concert in December. An accomplished and admired chamber musician, Polina Leschenko has performed in many festivals, including Aldeburgh, Risor, West Cork, Moritzburg, Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano and Musiktage Mondsee. She performs regularly with artists including Heinrich Schiff, lvry Gitlis, Christian Poltéra, Mark Drobinsky, Julia Fischer, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Natalie Clein and Priya Mitchell. Polina Leschenko has recorded a début CD for EMI in the series 'Martha Argerich presents ... with works by Liszt, Chopin, Kreisler/Rachmaninov, Brahms and Bach/Feinberg. Giuseppe Giacomini made his debut as Pinkerton in Puccinis "Madama Butterfly" in Vercelli and sang afterwards at all the important opera houses of the world. He has close relationships with the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, the Teatro alla Scala Milano and the Wiener Staatsoper who awarded him with the title "Kammerser". He was also awarded two of the most honorable decorations of Italy the title of "Commendatore e Cavaliere dell'Ordine di S. Gregorio Magno" and the "Medaglia d'oro di Benemerito della Scuola della Cultura ed Arte". Giuseppe Giacomini is the dramatic Italian tenor par excellence of our days. llya Gringolts, violin (Russia)

Winner of the 1998 International Violin Competition “Premio Paganini", Ilya Gringolts was also awarded two special prizes for the youngest ever competitor to be placed in the final and the best interpreter of Paganini's Caprices. Ilya studied violin and composition at the St. Petersburg Special Music School with Taliana Liberova and Jeanna Metallidi and at the Juilliard School with Itzhak Perlman and the late Dorothy Delay. He was also one of twelve young artists selected by the BBC for their New Generation Artists Scheme. Ilya's recent and forthcoming solo engagements include the Mahler Chamber Orchestra/Abbado, BBC Scottish Symphony/Volkov, a tour of Germany and Spain with NDR Hannover/Petrenko, Halle Orchestra/Erbele, Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin/Norrington, National Symphony Orchestra/Grams at Wolf Trap Centre for the Performing Arts, Bournemouth Symphony/Karabits, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg/Hrusa, the Boston Haydn & Handel Society/Llewellyn and St Magnus Festival with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Ilya has undertaken extensive tours of Asia and Australasia, performing with the Melbourne Symphony, Western Australia Symphony, NZSO, Auckland Philharmonia and in October 2007, he appeared in a gala concert in Osaka to mark the 25th anniversary of the Osaka Symphony Hall. His recital highlights include appearances at the Palau de la Musica, Milan Serate Musicali and summer festivals including Beethoven Bonn, Verbier, Lucerne, Moritzburg and Colmar. He will present the complete cycle of Beethoven sonatas at Verbier and in subsequent tours to Italy and Spain. In June 2008, he will give the world premiere of a new Violin Sonata by Sir Peter Maxwell Davis at St. Magnus and Cheltenham Festivals. He will also attend the 2008 Dvorak's Prague International Music Festival and the 2009 Enescu Festival. In addition to his three previous Deutsche Grammophon GmbH discs, in 2007 he recorded the Beethoven Triple Concerto with Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela/Abbado for DGG. Ilya is a Hyperion Artist and his violin disc of Heinrich Wilhelm Emst for Hyperion which includes the six Etudes, Erlkoenig, Otello Fantasy and Elegy was released in February 2008. Most recently, he won a Gramophone Award for his Taneyev Chamber Music CD for DGG. He has also made three previous recordings for DGG and his third recording (Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.1 and Sibelius) was released in 2004 to great critical ecclaim. His previous recordings for DGG - a disc of solo Bach and the Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich first Concertos - received outstanding reviews.Ilya plays a Ruggeri violin on loan from Otto Karl Schenk, Bem/Switzerland.

Priya Mitchell has been described as 'one of the foremost violinists of her generation' (The Strad). She studied with David Takeno at the Yehudi Menuhin School, Zachar Bron in Germany, as well as spending two years at the Vienna Conservatoire. She was chosen as the British representative in the European Concert Halls Organisation 'Rising Stars' Series and has given highly acclaimed performances with, amongst others, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Philharmonia. Outside of the UK, orchestras Priya has worked with include the Belgian Radio and Television Philharmonic, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Polish Chamber Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Deutsche Sinfonie-Orchester. As a recitalist and chamber musician Priya Mitchell has performed extensively at many international music festivals, and in 2006 she performed at the Osnabrück, Risør, Lugano, and Kühmo Festivals. In July 2000 Priya Mitchell launched her own festival - the Oxford Chamber Music Festival - of which she is Artistic Director. Svyatoslav Moroz has appeared at Europe's most prestigious concert halls including Espace Pierre Cardin (Paris), Grand Teatro La Fenice (Venice), and Kremlin Palace (Moscow), Merkin Concert Hall (New York). Mr. Moroz has performed with such world-renown_artists as: Oleg Kagan, Sviatoslav Richter, Natalia Gutman. He has also collaborated with famous musicians such as Victor Tretjakov, Eduard Brunner and Kim Kashkashian. Natalia Gutman, cello (Russia)

Russian cellist Natalia Gutman received her early musical training from her grandfather Anisim Berlin and Professor Galina Kozolupova, and later from the late musicians, cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, pianist Sviatoslav Richter, and her husband, violinist Oleg Kagan. Maestro Richter once expressed his admiration for Natalia Gutman saying: "... she is an incarnation of truthfulness in music." In 1957, Natalia Gutman won the Munich ARD Competition (where in 2005 she was a member of the jury), launching her international career. Since then she has performed on all continents with orchestras such as Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Munich and St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and many more. Festival appearances include the Salzburg Summer Festival and the Berliner and Wiener Festwochen. Wolfgang Sawallisch, Riccardo Muti, Claudio Abbado, Bernhard Haitink, Yevgeny Svetlanov, Yuri Temirkanov, Sergiu Celibidache, Mstislav Rostropovich and Kurt Masur are among the many conductors who favour Natalia Gutman. Another major interest of Natalia Gutman is chamber music. Her regular musical partners have included Martha Argerich and Elisso Virsaladze, Yuri Bashmet, Alexei Lubimov, Sviatoslav Richter and Oleg Kagan. She has premiered many contemporary works; in that regard, Alfred Schnittke dedicated a sonata and his first Cello Concerto to her. The complete Each solo suites have been presented by Ms. Gutman in Moscow, Berlin, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona and other places. In 2006 Natalia Gutman hes in dedication to Robert Schumann performed his cello concerto in Milan, Valencia, Cologne, London, Taipei and Florence. One of the Shostakovich concertos (again in honour of his 100th birthday in 2006) were scheduled for Caracas, Tel Aviv, Monte Carlo, Warsav, Athens, Vienna, the Netherlands and France (in Bretagne she will perform both pieces in once concert). In Paris with Orchestra Philharmonique she has performed the Lutoslawski concerto and in Lille the Dutilleux concert to round up the 2006

She also performed during several chamber music tours with Elisso Virsaladze (Spain, Belgium, Italy and Germany) as well as in Trio with Kolja Blacher and Elisso Virsaladze (Spain, Luxembourg and Germany).

In 2008, another quartet tour with Yuri Bashmet, Viktor Tretjakov and Vassily Lobanov included many European cities. She has recorded the Shostakovich Concertos No. 1 and 2 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Yuri Temirkanov for RCA/BMG-Ariola. Then followed a recording contract with EMI for the Dvorak Cello Concerto and other works with the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Wolfgang Sawallisch. 1992 saw the release of the Schumann and Schnittke Cello Concertos with the London Philharmonic conducted by Kurt Masur. Natalia Gutman frequently records for Life Classics, a small company dedicated principally to the group of musicians associated with Oleg Kagan. Being dedicated to young musicians Natalia Gutman is giving master- classes worldwide - she has been a professor for many years in Musikhochschule Stuttgart and is still teaching in Moscow. Each year at the beginning of July, Natalia Gutman invites internationally renowned artists, to the International Musikfest am Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alps, a chamber music festival that she founded in 1990 with Oleg Kagan and dedicated it to him after his death. Last summer the festival was held for the 18th time already. In May 2005, German federal president Köhler bestowed on Natalia Gutman the highest German decoration, "Bundesverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse” and in 2006 the artist was nominated to become a “fellow of the Royal College of Music" in London. Natalia Gutman performs on a “Guarneri del Gesu" cello, the master's work from Cremona, dating back to the year 1731 (being a generous loan to Ms. Gutman by "Seacross Management Ltd. Strings Unlimited”).

.The American Record Guide has described Massimo Quarta as "the embodiment of elegance" and according to Diapason "the brio and the sensuality of his playing, the purity of his sonority and the elegance of a diction deprived of emphasis, give to his view a tenderness and a refinement rarely heard." Massimo Quarta sets standards in his recording for Dynamic rediscovering the original version of both better known Paganini's works as the 6 Violin Concertos played with the "Cannone" Guarneri del Gesu, the violin owned by the great Genovese virtuoso, as well as works for violin and piano (I Palpiti, Napoleon, Weigl Variations, Le Streghe ). His recording of Paganini 24 Caprices has been released by Chandos. His revolutionary approach to the virtuosistic Italian music has won over audiences and has been widely acclaimed in the international press (CHOC Award 2004 of "Le Monde de la Musique"), gaining him an honoured place alongside the most distinguished artists (The Strad). Massimo Quarta began to study violin at age of eleven_at_the_“Tito_Schipa" Conservatory in Lecce, then followed his studies and graduated at the "Santa Cecilia" Conservatory in Rome with Beatrice Antonioni. He subsequently studied with Salvatore Accardo, Ruggiero Ricci, Pavel Vernikov and Abram Shtern. After winning the most important national competition, (Opera Prima "Philips", Concorso di Vittorio Veneto), Massimo Quarta came to international attention in 1991 when he won the first prize at the prestigious "Niccolo Paganini International Violin Competition" in Genoa. Ծնվել է 1972-ին: Ավարտել է Երևանի կոնսերվատորիան և ասպիրանտուրան (պրոֆ.Ա.Բոգդանյանի դասարան): 1993-ից ՀՊՖՆ-ի արտիստ է (2006-ից՝ նվագախմբի կոն- ցերտմայստեր): 2003-ից մասնակցում է Համաշխարհային նվագախմբի համերգային շրջագայություններին ՝ Վալերի Գերգիևի ղեկավարությամբ: Մշտապես հանդես է գալիս համերգային տարբեր ծրագրերում և կամերային անսամ- բըլների կազմում:«Սերենադ» կամերային նվագախմբի արտիստ է։

Karmen Tosunyan, violin (Armenia)

Born in 1972. Graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory and postgraduate courses (class of Prof.A.Bogdanian). Since 1993, Karmen is a member of APO (iran 2006 as an orchestra con- certmaster). Starting from 2003, Karmen Tosunyan has participated in all international tours of the World Symphony Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. She regularly appears in various concert programs as well as in chamber music concerts. Karmen is a member of the Sere- nade Chamber Orchestra.

Ծնվել է 1970-ին Երևանում։ Ավարտել է Երևանի Ռ.Մելիքյանի անվ.երաժշտական ուսումնարանը՝ ուսումը շարունակելով Երևանի կոնսերվատորիայում (պրոֆ. Արա Բոգդանյանի դա- սարան) և ասպիրանտուրայում (պրոֆ. Արտաշես Մկրտչյանի դասարան)։

1992-94-ին Երևանի սիմֆոնիկ նվագախմբի արտիստ էր, 1993-ից՝ ՀՊՖՆ-ի արտիստ է (2005-ից` փոխկոնցերտմայս- տեր) և «Սերենադ» կամերային նվագախմբի կոնցերտմայս- տեր:

1998-ից դասավանդում է Երևանի կոնսերվատորիայում (կա- մերային անսամբլի և մասնագիտական ջութակի դասարան- ներ)։ Բազմաթիվ ելույթներ է ունեցել տարբեր անսամբլների կազմում։ Մենանվագել է «Սերենադ» նվագախմբի հայաս- տանյան և արտերկրի հյուրախաղերի ժամանակ:

Aram Asatrian, violin (Armenia)

Born in 1970 in Yerevan. Graduated from the Yerevan R. Melikyan College of Music, with further study at the Yerevan Conservatory (class of Prof. Ara Bogdanian) and postgraduate courses (class of Prof. Artashes Mkrtchian). From 1992-94 he was a violinist of the Yerevan Symphony Orchestra. Since 1993, Aram Asatrian is the APO artist (from 2005, as an Associate Concertmaster), as well as concertmaster of the Serenade Chamber Orchestra. From 1998, A.Asatrian is teaching violin and chamber ensemble at the Yerevan Conservatory. Aram has performed as soloist with the Serenade Chamber Orchestra, during its Armenian and foreign tours.

ՀՀ Հեռուստառադիոյի սիմֆոնիկ նվա- գախմբի ալտահարների կոնցերտմայստերն էր: 1996-ից ՀՊՖՆ-ի արտիստ է, 2002-ից՝ «Սերենադ» կամերային նվա- գախմբի արտիստ: Կ.Օրբելյանի (կրտսեր) հրավերով մասնակցել է վերջինիս նվագախմբի՝ ԱՄՆ-ում կայացած հյուրախաղերին և ձայնագրություններին:

Artashes Asatrian, viola (Armenia)

Born in 1975 in Gyumri. Studied at Kara-Murza Music College in Gyumri. In 1999, graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory, and in 2001 the postgraduate courses under the guidance of Prof.Ruben Altounian. Artashes participated in massterclass given by Kim Kashkashian. From 1995-96, he was the concertmaster of viola section of the Armenian TV&Radio Symphony Orchestra. Since 1996, he is a violist of APO and from 2002 of the Serenade Chamber Orchestra. At the invitation of Constantine Orbelian Jr., A. Asatrian has participated in the US tour and the following recording project of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra.

Meri Margarian, violin (Armenia)

Born in 1980 in Yerevan. Studied at Tchaikovsky School of Music with Distinguished Teacher of RA Petros Haykazian and at Yerevan Conservatory and postgraduate studies with Prof.Artashes Mkrtchian. Meri has appeared with recitals and as soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras performing Bach (Double Concerto for two violins), Sibelius and Prokofiev (No.2) Violin Concertos. She is a member of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Serenade Chamber Orchestra.

Ծնվել է 1971-ին։ Ավարտել է Երևանի կոնսերվատորիան (պրոֆ Ս.Խաչատրյանի դասարան)։ 2000-ին մասնակցել է Վալտեր Լեվինի, Թոմաս Կակուսկայի, Բրունո Կանինոյի վարպետության դասընթացներին: Աշխատել է Էսսենի ֆիլհարմոնիայում և Երևանի սիմֆոնիկ նվագախմբում։ Ներկայումս ՀՊՖՆ-ի և «Սերենադ» կամերային նվագա- խըմբի արտիստ է: Մշտապես հանդես է գալիս համերգա- յին տարբեր ծրագրերում և կամերային անսամբլների կազմում։

Yana Daryan, viola (Armenia)

Born in 1971. Graduated from the Yerevan Conservatory(class of Prof. S.Khachatryan).In 2000, she participated in masterclasses given by Walter Levin, Thomas Kakuska and Bruno Canino. Yana has worked with the Essen Philharmonic and Yerevan Symphony Orchestras. Currently, she is a violist of the APO and Serenade Chamber Orchestra. Yana Daryan regu- larly appears in chamber music concerts with various programs and ensemles.

Karen Kocharian, cello (Armenia)

Born in Yerevan in 1974. Graduated from Tchaikovsky School of Music (class_of_Prof. A.Chaushian).Later, he continued musical education at the Yerevan Komitas Conservatory (class of Prof.G.Talalyan). Karen Kocharian is one of the founders of the Chamber Orchestra "Serenade", as well as its first solo cellist. He has toured with this orchestra as soloist throughout Germany and Holland. From 2000, Kocharian has had a number of performances with the Khachaturian Trio in Switzerland, Mexico, Costa-Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador. Presently, Karen is the Associate Principal cellist of APO.

Gor Hovhannisyan, viola (Armenia)

Born in 1975 in Yerevan. Studied with Prof. Levon Zoryan at Sayat-Nova School of Music, Distinguished Teacher of RA Petros Haykazian at Tchaikovsky School of Music, Professors Suren Hakhnazarian, Alexander Kosemian at Yerevan Conservatory and Prof. Carol Rodland at Berlin Hans Eisler Academy and Arizona State University. Gor continued his further training with Kim Kashkashian at Boston New England Conservatory. He has participated in a number of European music festivals. Presently, Gor Hovhannisyan is a violist of the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hayk Ter-Hovhannisyan, viola (Armenia)

Born in 1978 in Yerevan. Graduated from Romanos-Melikyan College of Music (1996, violin class of A.Kosemian) and the Yerevan Conservatoy in 2001 as violist. From 1999, Hayk is a violist of the Serenade Chamber Orchestra and from 2000 works at the APO. Hayk Ter-Hovhannisyan has participated in masterclasses given by Kim Kashkashian and Hartmut Rhode. He has had many performances in the staff of chamber ensembles.

Samson Tatosian, cello (Armenia)

Born in 1977 in Yerevan. Graduated from Tchaikovsky School of Music (class of Prof. Zareh Sargsian). Samson continued musical training at the Yerevan Conservatory with Medea Abrahamian and later at the Moscow Conservatory with Prof. Viktor Simon. From 2005-2007, he studied at postgraduate courses under the tutelage_of_Prof. Tatiana Priymenko. From 2009, Samson Tatosian is a cellist of the APO. He is a laureate of Aram Khachaturian Republic competition.
